How to Pair and Use the CarLock Light Sensor

The CarLock Light Sensor adds a powerful extra layer of security to your vehicle by detecting when light enters an enclosed space—such as a glove compartment, trunk, or even a toolbox—and immediately sending an alert to the CarLock app. It is specifically designed to detect what traditional sensors might miss.

It’s very simple to set up. First, pair the sensor through the CarLock app (SmartLock section) by scanning the QR code on the device. Once paired, use the included double-sided tape to install it on a light source inside a closed space you want to monitor, such as a glove compartment or trunk, and the setup will be complete—peace of mind starts right away! What the Light Sensor Does

The CarLock Light Sensor detects when light enters a closed space and alerts you through the CarLock app. It’s perfect for monitoring:

• Glove compartments
• Car trunks
• Toolboxes
• Luggage or valuables placed near your vehicle

As long as the sensor stays within 20 feet (6 meters) of the CarLock device, it will work reliably via Bluetooth.

Before You Start:
Make sure you have an active CarLock account and a CarLock device installed in your vehicle. The Light Sensor is compatible with CarLock devices purchased after January 1, 2018. How to Pair the Light Sensor in the CarLock App

1. Tap “Dashboard” on the screen.
2. Tap “SmarLock” in the menu.

3. Tap “Manage.”
4. Toggle the CarLock sensors switch to “ON.”

5. Tap “Add”.
6. Scan the Light Sensor’s QR code (located on the Light Sensor accessory), and once the QR is recognized, tap “Yes.”

7. If you want to delete, test, or rename the Light Sensor, tap “Manage.”
8. Choose one of the actions to perform, such as Rename, Test, or Delete (if you delete the light sensor from the app, it will need to be paired again).

Once the Light Sensor has been successfully paired with the CarLock app, it must be tested. Follow the instructions provided during the pairing process or simply click on “Manage” next to the Light Sensor name and select “Test Sensor.”

To receive Light Sensor notifications, make sure that:

• You have the Standard Plus or Premium subscription plan;
• CarLock security is activated (the “Lock” button on the CarLock app map screen must be locked);
• The Light Sensor is within Bluetooth range of the CarLock device connected to your car (about 20ft/6m);
• No external battery is connected to the battery of the vehicle.

Where to Place the Light Sensor?

Attach the CarLock Light Sensor to a light source in any enclosed area you want to monitor, using the double-sided tape included in the package. You will receive a notification in the CarLock app if light is detected. The most popular placement chosen by our customers is inside the glove compartment. Make sure the sensor (the small circle on the accessory) is properly aligned and covering the light source.

The CarLock Light Sensor communicates directly with the CarLock device as long as it is within Bluetooth range (about 20ft / 6m). This allows you to extend CarLock’s functions beyond your car. How long does the Light Sensor battery last?
The Light Sensor battery lasts 1–2 years.

Is the Light Sensor waterproof?
Yes, the Light Sensor is waterproof. However, it is important to avoid installing it on metal surfaces that heat up to high temperatures, as this could melt the plastic housing.

Can I have more than one Light Sensor linked to my CarLock account?
Yes, you can. There is no limit to the number of sensors in your CarLock app. However, we recommend renaming the sensors based on their location so you know exactly which sensor the light alert is coming from.

What is the maximum distance between the car (with the CarLock device installed) and the Light Sensor for it to communicate with the CarLock device and send light detection notifications?
The CarLock Light Sensor communicates directly with your CarLock device as long as it is within Bluetooth range (about 6 meters).

Does the Light Sensor have a pause period between detections?
Yes. The pause period is about 1 minute. This means that if light is detected twice within 1 minute, you will only receive 1 notification.
