Teenagers are much more likely to have an accident on the road. Find out how to keep your child safer with CarLock.
I am sure we all remember the day that we finally passed our driving test. The thrill of the open road and the freedom that we felt about being able to go any where, at any time. Though as a parent we might have different feelings when we wave our teenage child off the drive. Carlock can now put your mind at ease by introducing a new functionality which monitors your car for harsh driving. Lend your car to your teenager with complete peace of mind with the application’s newest feature.
Should you worry about lending your car to your teenager?
However much we trust our child, we must face facts: young, inexperienced drivers are much more likely to get into an accident on the road. In research from cdc.gov, young people aged 15-24 represent only 14% of the U.S. population. However, they account for 30% ($19 billion) of the total costs of motor vehicle injuries among males and 28% ($7 billion) of the total costs of motor vehicle injuries among females. In fact, per mile driven, teen drivers ages 16 to 19 are nearly three times more likely than drivers aged 20 and older to be in a fatal crash. This could be due to a multiple of reasons including:
- Being simply inexperienced
- Inability to spot hazards as quickly as an experienced driver
- Being easily distracted by friends
- Using their mobile phone
What can you do to keep your teen safer on the road?
There are not many options when trying to keep your teenager safer whilst driving. You could insist that your child takes more additional driving tests such as Pass Plus, however this advice can be costly and is unlikely to be a popular suggestion. Therefore at CarLock we felt there was something we could add to our application to keep teenage drivers safer on the road. We added the Harsh Driving notification functionality to our application so that you know when:
- & cornering has been performed too harshly in your vehicle
This simple addition to our application be all that is needed to keep your teenager’s mind on the road. Reducing the probability of accidents when they are driving your vehicle.
Other uses for the Harsh Driving Notification
This superb functionality does not just stop at teenage children. It is also a perfect way to monitor how staff are driving your work vehicles. Or in fact any situation where you need to ensure the driver is navigating responsibly.
