A Step-by-Step Guide to Installing the Basic CarLock Device

Connecting a Basic CarLock is simple. The device is designed to be directly installed on the vehicle’s battery. To learn more about how to mount your Basic CarLock device onto your car, please refer to the guide provided below.

POWER WIRES ON THE DEVICE

PIN 1 (RED WIRE) DC (+) / Power supply (+10-30 V DC)

PIN 2 (BLACK WIRE) GND (-)/Ground

There are various ways to access a car battery. While the most common location is under the hood, typically off to one side, they can also be found in alternative spots such as in the trunk, beneath the backseat, or even in the wheel well. If you are uncertain about the position of the battery in your vehicle, you can refer to the car’s manual or ask your mechanic for help.

Once you have referred to your car manual, identifying your vehicle’s battery should be a straightforward task. Look for a rectangular, black battery with two prominent cables attached to the top. These cables serve as positive and negative electrical terminals. Most car batteries are roughly 6 by 10 inches in size, so locating yours shouldn’t be a challenge.

MOUNTING RECOMMENDATIONS

1. DEVICE FASTENING

Locate the battery in your vehicle. If present, remove the battery cover to access the battery.

There is a double-sided tape on the back of the device (Figure 2). Use it to attach the device to the battery, or near the battery, so that the GNSS antenna and LEDs indicators are facing up (Figure 3 below).

2. CONNECTING POWER WIRE

The device power wire (pin 1 – red wire) is designed to be directly connected to the positive terminal fastener (red terminal) of the vehicle battery (Figure 3).

3. CONNECTING GROUND WIRE

The device ground wire (pin 2 – black wire) is designed to be directly connected to the negative terminal fastener (black terminal) of the vehicle battery (Figure 3).

GPS LOCATION AVAILABILITY AFTER INITIAL DEVICE INSTALLATION

After the device is firmly installed in your vehicle, go for a drive to get a valid GPS location.

Please keep in mind that the GPS location of your vehicle will not be immediately available after the device is connected. The setup process typically takes less than 5 minutes, but in some cases, it may take up to 24 hours for the device to connect to GPS satellites. To ensure the device has sufficient time to connect, we recommend plugging it in overnight and taking a drive the next day. LEARNING MODE IN THE INITIAL DAYS OF USE

CarLock push notifications only work when you are logged into the CarLock phone app. If you experience any delays in receiving location tracking or notifications during the first few days after installing the device, there is no need to worry as this is typical behavior. The CarLock device requires a few days to scan all available networks, recalibrate sensors, and learn your vehicle’s behavior when starting the engine.
