CAUGHT RED-HANDED: CARLOCK TRACKS DOWN STOLEN KIA AND THIEVES

On a normal working day, at 5:44 pm, Patricia felt her heart skip a beat. Her phone had chimed with an alert: “Engine started.” Her Kia, parked downtown in Vancouver where she worked, was unexpectedly on the move. Alarmed when receiving the first CarLock security notification, Patricia immediately rushed outside, only to confirm her car had just been stolen.

Without hesitation, she called 911 and reported the incident, informing the dispatcher that her car had a CarLock tracker installed and could share the vehicle’s exact location via CarLock’s tracking data. “I was able to tell the dispatcher exactly where the car was heading,” she shared. The dispatcher relayed the real-time location to multiple law enforcement agencies, setting a coordinated effort in motion.

Shortly afterward, a State Trooper spotted the stolen Kia and monitored its path as it moved around East County. In an adrenaline-fueled attempt to escape, the thieves ditched the car at a crowded mall and disappeared inside. But by now, a dozen police units had joined the operation, and officers quickly swarmed the area and quickly apprehended all three suspects.

When Patricia was reunited with her car, she found only minor damage—a broken window and a damaged steering column. Reflecting on the experience, she noted, “If we didn’t have CarLock, the car probably wouldn’t have been recovered. CarLock saved us from having to buy a new car.”

Originally purchased for peace of mind, CarLock exceeded Patricia’s expectations. “I would definitely recommend CarLock to anyone, but especially Kia and Hyundai owners,” she added. Thanks to CarLock, her family avoided the financial and emotional toll of replacing an essential vehicle.
