How to Replace the Battery in the CarLock Tag 2.0 (black card)

The CarLock Tag 2.0 is designed for convenient battery replacement. No special tools are required to change the battery, but a small flathead screwdriver can simplify opening the Tag.

The CarLock Tag 2.0 operates on a standard CR2032 lithium battery, commonly referred to as a coin or button cell. Replacement batteries are widely available at most local and online retailers that sell batteries. If you’re unsure where to purchase one, Amazon offers a large selection.

Simply follow these quick steps to replace the Tag 2.0’s battery effortlessly:

1. Open the Tag

To easily open the CarLock Tag, find the small opening along its side. If a keychain is attached to the Tag, detach it before opening. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the opening, gently press, and twist to separate the Tag’s halves.

For easier opening, rotate the screwdriver to gently lift the right side upward; this will help it come apart smoothly.

2. Replace the battery

Take out the old battery and insert the new one, ensuring the “+” side is facing up.

(The battery information is usually written on the + side)

3. Close the Tag

Push both parts together and check so that both parts are fully closed together.

Now, just reattach the CarLock Tag 2.0 to your car keys or wherever you usually keep it, and you’re all set.
