CarLock Helps Recover Stolen Renault While Second Car Remains Missing
When Daniel woke up at around 7:30 one morning, nothing initially seemed out of the ordinary.
”I went to the kitchen. Casually looked out to the drive where my partner and I park our cars, to find both were missing.”
Daniel quickly discovered that the rear door of their home had been forced open during the night. The thieves had entered the house, found both sets of car keys and driven away with both vehicles.
Many people keep their car keys close to the entrance of their home. This can make them one of the first things thieves find after breaking in. Keeping keyless-entry fobs near a door or window may also increase the risk of a relay attack, which can allow thieves to unlock and start a vehicle without physically taking the keys.
CarLock Revealed Exactly Where the Renault Had Gone
Daniel immediately opened the CarLock app to check his Renault Arkana.
The app showed the route the thieves had taken—and revealed that the car had been left in a car park only half a mile from his home.
“I quickly ran to the location and was surprised to find that the car was still there,” Daniel said.
The thieves had pulled out some wires from the car’s roof, but they had not discovered the CarLock device.
Police often explain that thieves may abandon a stolen vehicle for several hours to see whether it is being tracked. If nobody comes to recover it, they may return later when they believe it is safe to take.
Fortunately, Daniel found his Renault before that could happen.
He did not have a spare key with him, so he could not unlock or drive the vehicle home. However, he knew exactly where it was and could provide its location to the police so it could be safely recovered.
Security Notifications Could Have Provided an Even Earlier Warning
CarLock’s GPS tracking helped Daniel locate his stolen Renault Arkana after he discovered it was missing. However, CarLock can also warn owners while a possible theft is happening.
If CarLock Security Notifications had been enabled, Daniel could have received immediate alerts such as Vibration Detected, Engine Started or Vehicle Moved.
These warnings may have alerted him as soon as the thieves began interfering with or driving away in the Renault—rather than when he looked outside the following morning.
An earlier warning could have allowed Daniel to contact the police sooner and may even have helped prevent the second car from being taken.
This experience highlights why CarLock owners should ensure that their Security Notifications are enabled and that alerts are allowed in their phone settings.
Without CarLock, Daniel Wouldn’t Have Known Where to Look
Without the information recorded by CarLock, Daniel would have had no idea which direction the thieves had taken—or where they had abandoned the vehicle.
“I wouldn’t have known where to look and may never have found it again,” he said.
Even though the Renault had been left relatively close to his home, there was no reason for Daniel to search that particular car park. CarLock transformed what could have been an open-ended search into an exact location.
Finding the Renault quickly also gave Daniel peace of mind. He no longer had to worry that it was still being driven, accumulating speeding fines or potentially being used for criminal activity.
Daniel mentioned: ”I recommend to my partner and bought for her just before the theft but she had not fitted to her car.” Sadly, the other stolen car did not have an installed CarLock device and was not recovered.
Daniel Had Bought CarLock for Exactly This Possibility
Daniel originally purchased CarLock to provide additional protection against vehicle theft and to keep a record of his journeys.
Before choosing it, he had only one real question: would it actually work if he ever needed it?
That question was answered on the morning his Renault Arkana disappeared.
After discovering that both cars had been stolen, Daniel could immediately review the Renault’s journey and locate it just half a mile away.
Daniel had also recommended CarLock to his partner and bought a device for her car shortly before the theft. Unfortunately, it had not yet been installed when both vehicles were taken.
The difference between the two outcomes could not have been clearer: the car protected by CarLock was located and recovered, while the other car was not.
For Daniel, CarLock did exactly what he had hoped it would do—it showed him where his stolen Renault had gone and helped make its recovery possible.
